I was thinking today about how Paul the apostle called himself the chief of sinners and that God called man’s hearts desperately wicked even if some haven’t yet sunk to the depths of it to express all its vile passions.
Knowing that God sees it even if we don’t in ourselves, yet loves us still, should at least give us reason to hope and desire to share that hope with others who have fallen into the depth of that ocean, if they have discovered it and understood they are doomed.
For some who would rather find justification for their hearts state or excuse it, perhaps that time of grace has yet to come. In working with those who are so caught in sin we can sometimes over identify with them. Yes we are all fallen beings with a dark heart but those who have received Gods new heart and spirit can still walk uprightly whilst there old hearts war with the new.
God is greater than our old nature and so is His Grace. His spirit helps us to live above our sinful selves. But we need to ask him for that strength or we will struggle in the flesh to have victory by means of the flesh. We cannot walk free of our slavery by will power alone.
