we live in a world that encourages self fulfillment and accomplishments and rightfully those things we should be proud of. After all the were our achievements. but this only goes so far. When it comes to our relationship with the lord its quite different. After all, were hardly able to give the Glory to God when it’s something we know we achieved ourselves. But with salvation we can know that all the Glory belongs to him and can be confident in that because it’s impossible to save ourselves. Jesus told the disciples the same thing. with man it is impossible. Peace was granted to us through the work of the cross as was being made right with God, just as if we’d never sinned. So understanding this fact brings an attitude much different from self congratulation but one of thankfulness. those trusting in themselves, there understanding of scripture or observances of religious practices or legal obedience will never be able to offer God a heart of gratitude because they cant help feeling a little bit like they had a part to play in it. Paul said “you have been justified by faith and even that not of yourselves.  Gods kindness to us who didn’t deserve it paved the way for an attitude that befits us. for his kindness and goodness are the things that the word says leads us to repentance. if we let it.
